Grout/Epoxy
BoltHold asphalt anchors MUST use anchoring cement or epoxy ("grout") to facilitate bonding to the asphalt. The grout must meet certain properties else the results will be unpredictable.
Our EPX2 is a cement based grout available either in 12 oz resealable bags or in a 10 lb. tub. Our EPX3 is a resin ("epoxy") grout adhesive available in cartridge form, compatible with single-piston caulk guns. The EPX5 is a high strength version of the adhesive epoxy. The EPX2 cement should not be applied at temperatures below 50F. The EPX3 epoxy can be applied at temperatures as low as 14F. The EPX5 should not be applied at temperatures below 23F.
The Epoxies are more expensive but easier to use. We recommend the use of the EPX3 for a stronger and less-error-prone installation. The EPX5 has the added benefits that it increases the pull rating of any anchor by 15%.
